Pearse Cottage

The new Centre, Ionad an Phiarsaigh, at the Teach an Phiarsaigh site is a cultural  focal point of Connemara for both visitors and the local community.
For visitors it shall offer an experience that links An Gaeilge, the landscape and community with  the past and the present. And in particular it shall illustrate how these elements form and integral part of “identity” as symbolised by Padraig Pearse, his work, his writings and his relationship with Ross Muc.
For the local community the Centre shall celebrate the unique cultural identity of the Gaeltacht, providing a showcase for contemporary local arts-music, drama, dance and creative writing. In doing so, the Centre shall provide activities, events and a forum for sharing and learning.

Scroope Design has made a critical contribution to the planning and proposed development of the Visitor Centre at Pearse’s Cottage, Rosmuc. The attention to the development and understanding of the brief and the significant influence of the cultural and linguistic environment is reflected throughout all of the work.
